Betfair allows people to bet while races are going on select races, usually from England.
The gambler bet 20 pounds, and was willing to take 7-1 odds, but during the race someone offered 999-1 for the winning horse who was sitting in 14th place with only 3 hurdles to go at the time the wager was placed and accepted.
